As a student you will be working with citations to document sources that you use. Even as a medical professional you will sometimes need to cite sources for writing up things such as procedures and policies. While citations are important, they can also be frustrating to work with. The library offers tools and support to help you with your citations, including APA and AMA.
Citation Tools
- RefWorks: KU has a subscription to this paid bibliographic management tool and periodically offers classes on how to use it. There is also a medical-focused RefWorks tutorial and you can reach out to jason.fetty@ku.ac.ae to schedule a personal orientation. RefWorks is web-based and offers the ability to collection citations from databases, organize them into folders, and then format and share your citation collections. You can sign up for an account using an email at https://refworks.proquest.com/signup/email/
- Sciwheel: Popular with many at KU, Sciwheel offers a free (and paid) version of its citation tool.
- OWL (Purdue Online Writing Lab): A free resource from Purdue University, OWL is a useful resource for better understanding how to work with APA, MLA, and Chicago citation styles.
