This guide will compare two of the most popular medical research databases: PubMed and Embase.

PubMed and Embase Article Information

Article information is similar in PubMed and Embase. They both typically provide abstracts, email links, and author information.

PubMed also offers (usually):

  • Related article links
  • Citing articles
  • MeSH terms used (might not be available in newly indexed articles)

Embase typically offers:

  • Link to full article--if you see Full Text (View Full Text in search results)
  • Emtree information
