KU Medical Library: Clinical Resources Guide

This guide will give you an overview of resources related to clinical medicine available at the Khalifa University medical library and freely available on the Internet.

MedlinePlus

MedlinePlus is an online patient-oriented reference source published by the U.S. National Library of Medicine. Note, it is different from the Medline index of research articles.

MedlinePlus covers a mix of topics helpful to healthcare consumers who are not assumed to have extensive medical knowledge. You can search for topics or browse categories including basic health topicsdrug, herbs, and supplements information; common medical tests; and even healthy recipes.

It is primarily written in English and Spanish, but it does include some patient information in other languages, including Arabic.

Trip Database

The Trip database a free search tool for finding clinical information. It can help health care providers find the best available evidence to help answer clinical questions. It helps focus your search results by providing information on levels of evidences, guidelines from different nations, and more. You can sort results not just on the usual relevance and date, but also by level of evidence.

Trip has a paid-subscription option, but you can perform basic searches for free.
