The administration of Khalifa University is committed to encouraging and supporting faculty to use Open Access (OA) publishing for their scholarly work. This site will give you more information about what Open Access publishing is, how to go about publishing your article, and how the university will support you throughout this process. Publishing your work via OA will make it freely available to everyone in the world, which will increase your reach as well as further support the mission and goals of the university. Using OA also allows you to retain the copyright to your work and allows the university to put all such articles into Al Khazna, the university's institutional repository, which will also increase the visibility of your work.
At this time, the university has agreements with Wiley, ACS, IEEE, Taylor & Francis, Frontiers, and PLOS to publish a number of OA articles per year. The university will financially support authors who publish articles in the Q1 journals (click for KU's definition of what a Q1 journal is) of those publishers. There are tabs on this page for each of those publishers with details about the process of publishing with each of those vendors, as well as links to the list of approved journals for each publisher.
Khalifa University is in the process of approving and publishing an Open Access Policy. This document should be completed and distributed soon.
The library will be working with our publishers to present author workshops to answer any questions that you might have. Please contact us at libse@ku.ac.ae have any questions about the submission or approval process.
